X-ray facilities
X-rays are an important tool in both ruling out any pathology (more serious problems such as fractures, tumors and infections) and in detecting Chiropractic subluxations. At Chiropractic Solutions we have our own on-site facilities for your convenience. The whole process of taking and developing the x-ray takes less than 15minutes.
If your Chiropractor deems a spinal x-ray is necessary, 2 pictures will be taken whilst you are standing: one from front on and then one from side on. It is important that the x-rays are taken when standing as this gives the most accurate view of the structure of your spine. The view from front on is the only way to determine exactly how many vertebrae you have. Yes, people do not all have the same amount of spinal segments. The typical number are: cervical (neck) 7; thoracic (mid back with ribs) 12, some patients have 11 others 13; lumbar (low back) 5, some patients have 4 others 6. Since the Gonstead doctor wants to be as specific as possible in the analysis and treatment, this information is vital in order to avoid adjusting the wrong segment.
These x-rays will show the following:
a) look for signs of pathology and fractures
b) the condition of each disc and joints in the spine
c) any abnormalities you where born with
d) your posture and its curves and how your body reacts to the forces of gravity
This information gathered from your x-rays then allows your Chiropractor to plan the specific adjustment required to correct your subluxation and get you well!
